What is included in a fitting?

We travel to you with our Classic Scootboot, Adjust/Enduro & TheraRide sizing kits and inventory to provide custom fittings for your horse.
Custom adjustments, heat stretching, and trialing of the boots (try on the actual boots before buying) are included in the fitting.
Ability to purchase and take home boots or accessories the day of the fitting (while supplies last - but I try to stock every size).
1 week "Trial " period where we make sure the boots will fit your horse without coming off or causing rubs. If any issues arise, I will work with you to make any adjustments.
Return period is included in this 1-week trial. Please discontinue boot usage as soon as issues arise and contact me.

How long does it take?

Fittings are usually 45 minutes to an hour per horse

What do I need to do to prepare?

For best fit, please have your horse/mule trimmed 2 weeks before your fitting.
Please let me know in advance if you plan to use boots over shoes. (They are great over sliders and shoes for trail riding or riding on asphalt/concrete!)

Macy Zylstra

Hi I'm Macy, and I'm passionate about horses and hooves! I started my barefoot journey when transitioning my OTTB from shoes back in 2020. Now, all 7 of my horses are barefoot and we love trail riding! I have learned to trim all of my own horses and am obsessed about hoof health. I also offer Barefoot Trimming. Becoming a Scootboot Stockist & Fitter has been so rewarding. I've tested Scootboots through every terrain with all types of horses and hooves and I absolutely love this product. All Terrain Hoof Boots For Trail Riding

Scootboots are excellent on all types of terrain including mud, sand, water, rocks, desert and snow. They're the perfect trail boots for horses!

Due to their design, Scootboots have excellent ventilation and drainage. Any debris that enters the boot, such as sand or pebbles, will filter straight back out.

What are Scootboots?

Scootboots are a superior hoof boot. They are constructed of a strong material called thermoplastic urethane (TPU). TPU has high abrasive and shock absorbing qualities making them extremely robust and lightweight. They won’t get soggy or heavy when riding through mud and wet terrain.

What is the difference between Scoot Regulars and Scoot Slims?

Scoot Slims function exactly like our Scoot Regulars except they are more suited to oval-shaped hooves, slightly contracted hooves and narrow rear hooves.

Scoot Regulars and Scoot Slims are the same length, but Scoot Slims are 10mm (⅜”) narrower.

If your horse's hooves are wider than they are long, your horse will most likely require Scoot Regulars. If your horse's hooves are longer than they are wide, your horse will most likely require Scoot Slims.

What is included in a Scootboot pack?

A pack of Scootboots contains a pair of Scoots assembled with black Front Straps and Pastern Straps. Your Scoots will also come with a pair of Trail Gaiters, spare Hardware, 2 spare Front Straps and 2 spare Pastern Straps, along with instructions on how to care for your Scoots and check your horse’s fit.

How durable are Scootboots?

Scootboots are extremely durable. Scootboots last an average of 1,000 kilometres (600 miles).

The durability of Scootboots will depend on the type of terrain you ride on and the gait of your horse.

If your horse has a floating movement and you only ride occasionally, then Scootboots will last several years. If your horse scuffs and twists its feet, then Scootboots will wear slightly faster.

Can Scootboots be used for rehabilitation or be worn 24/7?

Scootboots are successfully used for rehabilitation for all kinds of pathologies including inflammation, diseases, infections and injuries of the hoof and lower limbs.

Horses can be turned out 24/7 in Scootboots due to their superior breathability and drainage. Good breathability is vital in preventing a build-up of fungus and bacteria. The excellent drainage capabilities of the Scootboot means that the horse’s natural hoof heat will dry out any excess moisture, ensuring the hooves remain dry.

Scootboots have an open toe design to help relieve toe pressure. This is a necessity for laminitic horses. We also recommend using TheraRides if your horse has sensitive soles.
